FAQs
I’m feeling nervous about taking the first step.
It’s natural to feel a mix of nervousness and curiosity when meeting a new therapist, and I aim to make the session as comfortable and supportive as possible.
I offer a free introductory 15-20 minute online or telephone call so that you can decide if you’d like to work with me. Please contact me at hello@justynaoconnelltherapy.com
In our first full session, I’ll start by going over some practical details about how we might work together. Then, you’ll have space to share what has brought you to therapy and a little about your background, at your own pace. Towards the end, we’ll reflect briefly on how the session has felt for you and, if you’re ready, consider whether you’d like to continue.
How long does a session last?
Each session is 50 minutes long. We will meet on the same day, at the same time. If you're late or delayed it will not be possible to extend the session beyond the usual finishing time. The time is reserved for you as agreed and is not available to others. If you are unable to attend you will be charged the full rate for the missed appointment.
If you have to reschedule or cancel, please give me minimum 48 hours notice if sessions are in person, and 24 hours if online.
How do I know if I found the right therapist?
Finding the right therapist is a bit like dating: it can take meeting a few people before you find someone you feel truly comfortable with and can open up to.
How do online sessions work?
I will send you a password-protected Zoom link for our session. If we experience any technical issues, we can continue over the phone, if that works for you. To help you feel comfortable talking about anything, please make sure you’re in a safe, private space where you won’t be interrupted.
